Harbor Light Credit Union — Member Acquisition Campaign

A member-acquisition campaign for a regional credit union — built around first-time homebuyers specifically, rather than the generic "great rates" messaging the credit union's prior campaigns had relied on.

The project

Harbor Light's prior acquisition campaigns competed on interest-rate messaging alone, the same axis every competing bank and credit union in the market was already fighting on. Discovery interviews with the credit union's own loan officers surfaced a more specific, real opportunity: first-time homebuyers overwhelmingly cited confusion about the mortgage process itself, not rate comparison, as their biggest barrier. Strategy repositioned the entire campaign around plain-language mortgage education rather than a rate war, with creative built to make Harbor Light read as the credit union that would actually explain the process clearly.

Delivered as a full campaign creative system across direct mail, digital display, and in-branch signage, plus a plain-language mortgage-education microsite supporting the campaign’s core message.
